Hm, I apparently used 1.51gb of bandwidth on my phone in the past month. That seems high. Oh well. Unlimited data ftw.

I’m looking forward to the new year. Why? So I can file my taxes and get (what I hope to be) an awesome tax refund.

Port workers in Egypt have refused to receive a shipment of tear gas ordered by the country’s Interior Ministry from the United States. They fear it will be used against protesters in Tahrir Square.

If you want something done right, learning from the Nazis isn’t enough. You have to actually put them in charge.

runalovegood: domdomomnom replied to your post: i hate this school i hate this life i hate this… that’s why you should come to me :3 I wish I’d had this horrible semester a few semesters back, so I could have transferred out of here back when it made any sense.  I’m supposed to graduate in May, and in all likelihood, I’ll be dropping out in two weeks.  It’s not fair.  I’ve worked my butt off for...

wizardinafez: kaylen-false: That last post with Liam’s “colour” and my “color” make me laugh. When I was in fourth grade, I read all of Narnia and hordes of other British books. Then I got into Neopets and all that… I started spelling everything “wrong.” My teacher was really upset… Really? I always thought ‘grey’ was more common in the US, even though I prefer...

runalovegood: Uh so, IT says they disabled my account because I was using Bit Torrent.   Only one problem. I’ve never in my life used Bit Torrent. Seriously?  Are you freaking serious?  I can’t get my stinking homework done or answer incredibly important e-mails about TUTORIAL MEETINGS that I HAVE ON FRIDAY.  Just. WHAT. I have to take my computer in and they’re going to uninstall something...

runalovegood: Sooo I’ve been locked out of my student account by my school.  This means I can’t access my school e-mail, information, or, you know, my online class. ARGH I DON’T EVEN KNOW.  The only way I’m even ON this computer right now is because I hibernate it instead of shutting it down.   THIS SCHOOL. Why today is awesome: you got to use that gif. Also hibernating is awesome. People...

runalovegood: Read More I don’t know how accurate it was, but I liked how it was in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (movie version, at least). Where you get through a decent amount of the movie, and learn that all the main characters have some sort of mental issue they’re trying to overcome, but then it’s revealed that they all entered the place voluntarily and can...

runalovegood: Guys. One episode stands between me and the four-part Avatar finale. =O I mean, first off, I hope it’s apparent to you how much of a life I don’t have. Ship Breaker had it’s own hurricane simile. I definitely thought of “If people were rain…” when I read that line.
Nov 29th
Want some thoughts on Ship Breaker? Damn right you do. Minimal spoilers ahead. It was a decent book overall. There was a major plot point I didn’t like, because it influenced so much of the story, but it was something the characters could have easily avoided. So every time that comes up, it’s like “you know, if you’d just done [x] before, you wouldn’t be in this...

I was following too many tumblr blogs so I unsubscribed from some. Down to 32 now. A lot of the ones I got rid of were dead: they changed their URL and I never unsubbed the old one. Of course sometimes I didn’t even subscribe to the new one, because it’s a tedious and sometimes difficult task.

Looking at FB photos of one of my relatives. The ones of his daughter are amusing. Because he grew up in Kentucky, really outdoorsy and into hunting. And of course he teaches his kids these things. So I’m looking at pictures of this little girl smiling so happily alongside the dead coyote she’d just snared. Those were from two years ago. Her profile pic now (as a freshman in high...

So for the longest time I didn’t read. At least not out-of-school. I read a few books during high school, then pretty much stopped in college. So now I need to get my parents to mail them back to Florida for me (because I’m not...

Apparently my cactus died a while ago. I probably got it 10+ years ago. One of those cactuses you can buy for like $1 when they’re a few inches tall. Over the years it grew to about three feet. The other two we bought with it died within weeks of buying, I think, but this one survived for at least a decade.

I’m concerned about my kitty. I finally got to see her for the first time in… 8 months, which is really nice. But in that time she’s apparently… well… gotten old. I’m hoping my math is right on this. I wanted to calculate how much space a physical book takes up compared to an ebook. I used what I believe to be the most space-efficient storage medium available today (a 32gb microSDHC card), and Mockingjay. Conclusion: you could fit 108,544,000 ebooks in one copy of Mockingjay. Calculations: microSDHC card = 11 x 15 x 1 = 165mm^3 (src: wikipedia) ...

I wish I just had a bunch of free time at some point. I kind of want to fix the problems with the transcript wiki, but I also kind of just want to re-code the whole thing from scratch. The only feature I’d be nervous about re-doing would the be the search engine. But the possibilities of such an endeavor are really nice: transcripts could be stored separate from page contents and meta info,...
