I am back to being incredibly worried about student teaching. So. That lasted.
I know I should be thankful to have such a great placement, but I am terrified.
…oh. WAIT.
Guys, good e-mail, good e-mail.

I’ve been mulling over the institution of marriage. Now, I don’t really know that much about law and politics, or the government in general. In fact, I failed that class once and passed with one of the lowest possible Cs the second time around. So, if I’m inaccurate, please don’t get angry with…

Why Today Was Awesome 2011/12/30
Not making a habit out of this, but I liked today, and I shall endeavor to tell you why.
I made my flights. I set my alarm for 4:10am, somehow woke up at 4:40am, managed to have all green lights and no traffic on the way to the airport, and got to the security line at around 5:20am. For a 6am flight. And the security line was full. With how slowly it was moving,...
I need a good quality version of A Separation now. One that doesn’t have variably-out-of-sync audio. Because that was a good movie.

what’s going on? i just installed it.
I got this giant message on my dashboard telling me how it degrades site performance and such, and that they won’t be accepting support questions from users that have it installed. Which they may be right, that it’s hitting their servers more, but that...

Missing-E makes your platform significantly better
Have lots of time to implement the features yourself
Don’t, instead complain about it tell users they should uninstall
Yep. That’s Tumblr.
You have no idea how many times I’ve plugged a USB cable into an ethernet port.
I have a bachelors degree in Information Systems and I minored in Computer Science.
Trying to watch A Separation. But I’m really tired and there’s a tiny dog on me and I have to mess with the subtitles and audio to sync them to the video.
i’m getting 3 hours of sleep tonight

So yeah, I just want to cry right now. I don’t think reading a year’s worth of angsty journal entries was at all a good idea.
If uh…if anyone’s around who is okay with listening to a crazy emotional person ramble…let me know?
Maybe. I’ve got nothing better to do.

“Turret: I’m different” That may be the saddest thing I’ve read today.
I loved the defective turrets. They were so friendly.
And you really should watch the clip, not only to witness the spectacle of priests and monks beating the crap out of each other with broomsticks over who owns the birthplace of the Prince of Peace, but also to see the monk recording the whole thing with his smartphone.
…that would mean this story involved Muslim cops having to keep the peace between two groups of Christians trying to...

Is anyone else really annoyed with tumblr’s text parsing? Like how it replaces all quotation marks with angled ones, and auto-converts double-dashes to long dashes. Like, I typed what I wanted to post, I don’t need tumblr “fixing” it for me.
(this isn’t just random angst, it really is problematic at times. long dashes != double dashes in programming)

Please tell me K. Green and MJ know and speak with each other.
I’ve just verified that they follow each other on Twitter, if that helps.
I’m still amused by that “tumblr crushes” feature. Mostly because of what my current list and their percentages are.

I should start making code comments unnecessarily emphatic.
Like, I found this comment:
catch (Exception ex) {
// do nothing ignore error
}
Wouldn’t that be so much better as:
catch (Exception ex) {
// callously ignore error
}
With computers and in video games and such, everything can be solved by putting some discrete amount of resources into something. Like, games will essentially require x amount of a character’s brainpower (or energy, or chi, or w/e), computers require x number of CPU cycles, etc. It’s sometimes disappointing that doesn’t work for people, IRL. As I was trying to come up with a...

No, strange man who approached me in the parking lot, I will not buy meat from you at discounted prices.
In Victorian England, a commoner was not allowed to look directly at the Queen due to a belief at the time that the poor had the ability to steal thoughts. Science now believes that less than four percent of poor people are able to do this.

How to find someone’s Facebook profile via an image URL
If you’re worried about anyone finding your Facebook profile (even if you have everything private, maybe you don’t want your full name made public to someone), don’t link to a picture you took. Here’s a short tutorial on why.
Someone took a picture and uploaded it to Facebook, like this, and they linked it from...
I need more foreign music.
Suggestions would be very welcome.
I’m listening to Finnish pop/rock right now. I also have German pop, Japanese pop and ska, and a bit of Russian/Mandarin/French. Any of those or, even better, completely different things would be awesome.

I (maybe?) start student teaching in a week. Avoid all the panic by senselessly driving around town for 6 hours and then coming home and binging on Hank & Katherine, guys I am so so so so scared.
It’s like jumping out of a plane. Possibly the scariest thing you’ll ever do, but it’s going to be awesome.

If this thing passes, there’s something rotten in the state of Denmark. And by Denmark I mean the District of Columbia.
Haha, I could probably write a script that would get the username of everyone visiting someone’s Ask page, which would make it fairly easy to figure out who an anon is. Not saying I’m going to. Just that I could.
[Edit] Oh, nevermind. Tumblr has actually somewhat-ingeniously blocked how I would’ve done that.
The affidavits are confusing, but I think this is in fact the story they tell: the man hired two women for a threesome; called 911 to report he didn’t get what he had (illegally) paid for; was arrested, booked, and released; then called one of the women he said had just cheated him, apparently intending to call 911 so police could “catch her in the act,” but implicating himself...
